ElseApps Ltd is a New Zealand software development company. Our primary focus is on enterprise web applications that move paper-based processes to the internet, but we have experience in many other types of software.

The ElseApps Framework

EAF is used by a growing number of organisations who offer contestable funding. It allows them to manage submissions, decisions and grants on the web without piles of paper or folders full of email messages and spreadsheets. All data is accessible at all times from all locations. Reports can be easily generated in spreadsheet and PDF format, and those involved in the progress of applications receive just-in-time notifications. EAF is flexible, easily customised, and receives regular enhancements.

The ElseApps Framework can be used in many other ways. It could collate public submissions for local organisations, provide a reporting framework for businesses, manage a large tendering process.

We have a demo site available for EAF. Get in touch if you'd like to assess it for yourself.

Native software

ElseApps maintains several Windows applications for clients in New Zealand and overseas. We've been building commercial and internal business Windows software for twenty five years.

More recently we've been creating cross-platform software that can be compiled for Linux and MacOS as well as Windows. Our experience includes core business software, medical and pharmaceutical applications, all of which have required a focus on security and auditability.

Mobile apps

We've created commercial mobile apps for clients that compile to both iOS and Android. This approach greatly reduces the cost of developing and maintaining mobile solutions.

An even more cost-effective approach is a progressive web app. But which option is the right one depends on what you need the application to do. We're happy to have that conversation.

Web sites

Yes, we've developed a lot of web sites, many based on Wordpress, some with payment interfaces. We've used many different frameworks, languages and toolsets.

But web sites should not be cookie cutter projects, and they don't have to include whatever frameworks and libraries are currently trendy. This site, for instance, is a single file; 190 lines of HTML and CSS with just a pinch of javascript. No framework, nothing trendy at all. But it does exactly what it should on all devices, and does it extremely quickly.

What others say

You will remember that my main worry originally was whether I would be able to persuade committee members to change their ways and relinquish their large paper agendas. Surprisingly, I am finding that the benefits of web-based applications and paperless downloads for iPads has transformed the way our trustees and committee members are doing their business. Even the reluctant ones have now been converted. Yesterday I tested the water by asking whether Board members were missing the previous paper summary pages of grant applications – the answer was a resounding and unanimous “No”. They are all determined to move forward and are actually proud of their new slim-line agenda folders. I think that my persistence (pig-headedness) has been vindicated at last and know that the path would have been much more difficult without your vision and expertise. So a great big vote of thanks Leigh, if you don’t know how grateful we are already! Dr Jim Hodge, Maurice and Phyllis Paykel Trust
This was my first opportunity to actually have one of our apps do its automatic installation process for me. I'd always had a most-recent version already installed so never got to see it up close and personal. So slick! Mindy Rosenblatt, Forex Smart Tools
Please ask an understanding member of your family to give you a very encouraging pat on the back from me. I would do it myself if I lived a bit closer! EAF user
So user friendly. Easy. Adaptable. I'm loving it. Its not hard to undo stuff either which is great. Thank you. Karren Kerrisk, K2 and Associates
I have just come back from our inaugural committee meeting using the “paperless” technology, which to my relief went off very well - the iPads were given a big thumbs up by all members, especially those who had been on overseas trips while doing their scoring of applications. They are now very good at navigating around their iPads but we still found it was necessary to use a few printed lists to speed up progress of the meeting. We’ll get better at it I’m sure and it will be interesting to see how the Board members manage at their meeting on 1 May. There were no requests for changes or improvements, which means that you deserve yet another pat on the back. I’m sure they will also spread the word around the science community as we must be one of the very few research committees using such software so far. Dr Jim Hodge, Maurice and Phyllis Paykel Trust
Brilliant. This is a wonderful solution. Sometimes all the customer support and sales and bookkeeping makes this biz more a pain in the derrière than feels worth it ... And then there are moments like this - when working with you and sharing the joy of these moments of inspiration brings such delight. Mindy Rosenblatt, Forex Smart Tools
Thank you for your quick and wonderful work. Karren Kerrisk, K2 and Associates
This is just to report that Paperless has performed very well so far in its first big test. Our committee members have been grappling with the new requirement to study all applications using their iPads and without paper copies – so far there have been no real problems. Two members have been overseas in the last few weeks and have praised the value of being able to take all the applications with them by packing only an iPad. One has grumbled a bit about the small font size, but is coping (and refers to the originals in the repository when at his desk anyway). The committee meeting next week will be interesting and I will let you know of any specific matters which come up then and may warrant some attention. Dr Jim Hodge, Maurice and Phyllis Paykel Trust
Wooohoo - working on your platform, and with you is so easy!! Karren Kerrisk, K2 and Associates
The Oanda importer looks magnificent! I'm trying something now to trip it up, but I bet I won't be able to. Really a gorgeous piece of work - I'm going to be so happy using this, and getting it out there to folks too. Thank you big time! Mindy Rosenblatt, Forex Smart Tools
